Overview
Xtra SIL G is the newest generation of silica gel, that is combined with an optimized binder system so that no flaking of the silica takes place when the plate is cut. The Xtra SIL G TLC plates provide outstanding wettability for precise colorization results, even with 100% aqueous eluents and they provide excellent separation efficiency and reproducibility from lot to lot. The binder is highly polymeric and stable in almost all organic solvents and resistant towards aggressive visualization reagents.
Xtra SILGUR TLC plates feature a keiselguhr concentration zone for rapid sample application. Because the concentration zone is completely inert towards a large number of compounds, the samples always form a narrow band at the interface of the two adsorbents, irrespective of shape, size or position of the spots in the concentration zone. Separation then takes place in the silica layer.
Xtra Nano-SIL G and Xtra Nano SILGUR plates are designed for HPTLC and feature a smaller size, 2-10µm silica which affords sharper separations in shorter development times and with shorter migration distances. These plates are generally used for smaller samples and increased detection sensitivity. These are available in standard format as well as with a concentration zone.
Features of the ALUGRAM Xtra SIL G, Xtra SILGUR and Xtra Nano-SIL G TLC plates:
Silica 60, specific surface (BET) ~ 500 m2/g, mean pore size 60 Å, specific pore volume 0.75 mL/g, particle size 5–17 µm, in standard grade
Thickness of layer for analytical plates 0.22 mm, for preparative plates 0.5 and 1 mm
For 2 mm preparative layers a slightly coarser material is used
Manganese activated zinc silicate with green fluorescence for short-wave UV (254 nm) indicators
Special inorganic fluorescent pigment with blue fluorescence for long-wave UV (366 nm) indicators
Binders: highly polymeric products that are stable in almost all organic solvents and resistant towards aggressive visualization reagents
